2. Cairo, Egypt
May is the perfect time to visit anywhere in Egypt and specifically Cairo. The daytime temperatures do get up there, but it’s bone dry and the evenings cool off nicely anyway.
3. Shanghai, China
Being farther south, Shanghai gets even hotter during the peak of summer, so May really is an ideal time to visit this diverse city of China.
4. Lille, France
This charming European town is just one hour from Paris and the most exciting arts destination of the moment. The spring weather here is delightful, with indoor and outdoor art exhibitions.
5. Aarhus, Denmark
The canal town has lots of appeal for tourists: it’s safe, uncrowded, and has plenty of English speakers. It’s also become a destination for foodies. Besides, the city has been named one of two European Capitals of Culture for 2017.
6. Malta
This small European island gained some major screen time recently as the setting for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s By the Sea movie which was shot in Malta and its sister island Gozo. The tourists begin to descend in June, so beat the crowds in May to get the beaches to yourself.
7. Charleston, SC.
Let’s ahead for States. Can’t decide between a cityscape and a beach getaway? Head south to the charming city of Charleston to get a mix of both. Enjoy the mouthwatering cuisine, perfect weather, beautiful beaches and warm hospitality.
8. Louisville, Kentucky
Do you love horse-racing? Dash on over Louisville; there’s still plenty of horse-racing action to catch throughout May. The Triple Crown tears through Baltimore on the third Saturday in May at the annual Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.
